EcoNatura is committed to protecting Romania's pristine ecosystems through innovative conservation initiatives and community engagement.
At EcoNatura, our mission is to protect and restore Romania's diverse ecosystems while promoting sustainable living practices that benefit both nature and communities. We believe that ecological conservation and human prosperity can go hand in hand, creating a harmonious relationship between people and the environment.
Through research, education, and direct action, we strive to preserve biodiversity, combat climate change impacts, and ensure that Romania's natural treasures remain vibrant for generations to come. Our approach combines traditional ecological knowledge with cutting-edge science to develop solutions that respect both cultural heritage and environmental needs.
By 2026, we aim to restore 5,000 hectares of degraded land, protect 20 endangered species, and engage 100,000 Romanians in conservation activities. Together, we can create a future where humans and nature thrive in balance.
EcoNatura was founded by a group of dedicated environmentalists and scientists concerned about rapid deforestation in the Carpathian Mountains. Beginning with just 12 members, the organization focused on documenting biodiversity and raising awareness about conservation issues in local communities.
Our first major reforestation project was launched, successfully planting over 50,000 native trees in degraded areas of the Danube Delta. We established partnerships with three universities and began our citizen science program, engaging local communities in biodiversity monitoring and conservation efforts.
EcoNatura moved to our current headquarters in Constanța, establishing Romania's first zero-carbon environmental education center. Our team expanded to 45 full-time staff and over 500 regular volunteers. We launched our flagship "Blue Danube" initiative to address water pollution and protect aquatic ecosystems throughout the river basin.
Today, EcoNatura operates across all regions of Romania with specialized programs in forest conservation, wetland restoration, sustainable agriculture, and environmental education. Our initiatives have helped protect over 30,000 hectares of critical habitat and reintroduced several locally extinct species. As we approach our 2026 goals, we continue to expand our impact through innovative approaches and strong community partnerships.
EcoNatura is a leading environmental conservation organization based in Constanța, Romania. We are dedicated to preserving the rich biodiversity and natural landscapes of our beautiful country through sustainable practices, community engagement, and innovative ecological solutions.
Our multidisciplinary team consists of ecologists, botanists, zoologists, environmental engineers, educators, and community organizers who work together to address complex environmental challenges. We believe that effective conservation requires both scientific expertise and deep community involvement, creating solutions that benefit both nature and people.
Since our founding, we have successfully implemented over 120 conservation projects across Romania, from the Carpathian forests to the Black Sea coast. Our approach combines traditional ecological knowledge with cutting-edge conservation science, ensuring that our solutions are both culturally appropriate and scientifically sound.
By 2026, we aim to become Eastern Europe's premier center for ecological research and conservation, with a special focus on climate resilience and ecosystem restoration. We invite you to join us in building a sustainable future for Romania and beyond.
